Hi. I'm Eddie Kestermont. I'm shoots cuts flicks.
I spent a decade in the trenches of Silicon Valley just out of reach from the art I love; creating the software editors for the movie makers I aspired to be among. The Michael Bays, the Uwe Bolls, the Russ Meyers.
I love to create. I love to inspire and be inspired. I love breaking down and expanding the walls of the system (and the look on peer's faces when I do). I also love cheese, but that's not relevant.
Many of my passions were satisfied with the day job, yet I found another fulfilling life in video production. Living comfortably, and sated by meeting, working with, and befriending fascinating people, I did most of this work gratis. "Gratis" is a Latin term meaning, "for beer and a couch to sleep on."
After being abandoned by one too many corporate kingdoms, on a not so very special morning I pulled myself out of the software development fog of war. The mind made the decision without me - to instead earn my living wage creating, shooting, and cutting flicks.
Here in the Bay Area, from San Francisco to San Jose to Oakland, you and I are part of a gifted and inspired community. We are starving artists. We are prolific creators. We are determined entrepeneurs. As yet another lunatic in this asylum, I see first-hand the difficulties of bringing our ideas to fruition.
Being steeped in a DIY ethic, crowdfunding through Indiegogo, Kickstarter, and the like, have been a boon... yet are still a risk. Many factors must magically fall into place to succeed in these ventures. At the least, let me make your accompanying video a win.
Money tight? Not yet in your wallet? I understand, so I'm putting my talent and passion out there to exploit for our mutual benefit. My survival requires a minimal retainer, and then when your goals are achieved we share in the success of your crowdfunding venture. Your risk is also mine. I will enthusiastically help bulldoze the path to your goal, and then reap the benefits with you, not from you.
Your project will be done inexpensively and efficiently. This means a kickass camera accompanied by hacked peripheral equipment, running mostly solo with occasional local filmmaking talent as support, and with all my ridiculously whimsical vision and creative gusto. We will work nimbly, never frantically.
To succeed we gotta hand-pick each other. I don't intend to work for just anybody offering a paycheck. I want to believe in your project, and want you to trust in my vision for your mini-movie. We are investing in each other. During our collaboration I will ingest and share the zeal you have for your project, infuse that into your video, and then take it with me when we're done. There will be no half-heartedness here.
