Yes, I have come back from retirement to both help produce their campaign, and financially back Splathouse in there new venture. OK, OK, maybe dropped a few extra bucks to be sure that they stay on the map of Cult Film Conversation... I've been to their screening room. These kids are doing it DIY and making every bloody cent count.
Don't let the term "podcast" make you wince, being a cornerstone of the cult film culture brings in the high-profile names. This is an elite crew, who have built this thing from the ground up.
Charming, talented, sexy (ahem, Mike D), and altogether irresistible both on stage on screen. Which is a good thing, since they do these hybrid shows containing elements of both, get this, stage and screen. SCRAGE? STREEN?
These things have got some heat. Paintball and Airsoft enthusiasts internationally are in love. The military has been sniffing around. Construction, gardening, big art - lock those kneepads down. I'm surprised they haven't hit their goal already.
Get yourself a pair.
It was a pleasure working for Miguel, Rudy, and family. This is the story I love to see "make it."
EDIT: Due to a PR team that did nothing but up an run with the money, the campaign is pulled until Segue can again align her ducks. In the meantime you can still enjoy the video. Look for Frankentrikes to again go alive Aptil 19th.
I teamed up with Segue (yes, that's her real name) a couple months ago and started grabbing footage here and there for her Kickstarter campaign. Miraculously, the video turned out rather well considering weather NEVER cooperated with us, including indoor shots where we had to wait for breaks in the downpour and gusts of wind. *shakes fist* Crack open those piggy banks and drops a couple dimes to this talented engineer.
It's just like it sounds. I was invited to shoot Wyclef's post CES concert, so I did. Duh. TechRadar asked me to loan some of it for their interview with him about his team-up with Creative Labs. So I did. Duh. Checkit.
Where most reels offer insight into a very specific skillset, I handle everything myself in the production process, so this video includes a sample of EVERYTHING I do under the shoots cuts flicks monicker.
My portfolio page has a few other easy to reach links for other representitive projects.
Check it out, share with friends, and giggle at its professional ridiculousness. I'm trying to do something different in this microcosm of product demos and crowdfund pitches, and it shows. Next up - more action!
EDIT: I made some small changes to my reel, and have updated this post to that new video.
I recently worked with Michael Taylor of Pretend for Real Studios on his entries for Crypt TV's 15 Second Scare competition entries. (That's a mouthful). You may know him from his viral movie trailer for ZOMBOOBIES! My contribution was light but essential, with initial rough cuts of the flicks to best extract both laughs and scares. Here's a playlist so you can check out his final products!
TwitchCon is the premiere Twich Convention. You may let out a collective "DUH" for that one. It was three floors of gaming and streaming mayhem. I intend to go back as a guest, but I suspect shoots cuts flicks will be invited again to capture its goodness.
Unfortunately, no footage from this year will make it to the public on its own, but instead will be included as b-roll for forthcoming Sound Blaster promotional / training / social media videos.
The folks at Sound Blaster tapped me again to do another short work, this time for a looping intro in their booth at Gamescon. I'm personally looking forward to gettiong some goodies from the BlasterX line.
For the pitch I came up with the copy, the format, the look, the sound... and they just rolled over and went with everything. Many iterations later, and they still loved it. Next time I'm going surrealist - we'll see how much Cronenberg and Lynch we can inject into simple headphones.
And yes, the voice is Mrs. Shootscutsflicks herself!
The Indiegogo campaign. Scott has been doing this a LONG TIME. He never makes any more money from it than is needed to survive, and depends on volunteers and donations from the extended bayeria artist community to keep it going.
The Mystic Midway is a fully immersive live game and experience where you become part of the show. The expertise of this entire crew not only provides a safe and all-enveloping venue for you to explore, but also opens doors for you to walk through on your own journey of self discovery. Foo-foo? Only to the uninitiated. This shit is nuts. After a visit you'll suddenly realize how banal the imposition of societal norms are. You are the star of your own life, and MM helps hold up the mirror.
By invitation, he's taking the Midway to Burning Man this year, with a full crew, and needs an assist. Dig deep in your couch cushions for a handful of change to throw at the cause. Once they're done in the desert, they'll be coming back with the full show to the bay.
